Currently, we’ve around 280 secretaries working at Linklaters across the globe, and around 40 who work as float secretaries in different areas of the firm each week. Obviously specific roles differ between offices. But wherever you are in the world, the focus is the same: it’s about providing the best support for our clients and our lawyers. And – much more than that – it’s about being central to the firm.
We do mean central. If we’re to become the very best firm and business we can be, the support our legal secretaries offer is crucial. That’s why we’ve ensured you have everything to help you do your job to the very best of your ability. We have bright, modern working environments, for example. Our resources – including our print rooms and IT systems - are second-to-none. We offer rewards for exceptional service, and for any extra responsibilities you take on. We’ve also put a great deal of thought into career development: for example, all secretaries now benefit from specially-designed training programmes. Nor are the opportunities narrow. You could branch out into new areas of the firm. You could take on new responsibilities. You could develop into a coaching or training role. Or you could move to a different role entirely within, for example, our marketing or HR teams.
More than anything, however, it’s our people who make this such a great place to work. In a professional environment such as ours, high standards are a reality, and people will often be working under pressure. But there is a genuine sense of teamwork throughout the firm. What’s more, everything is geared towards better communication: we’ve built an intranet site with specifically designed content for secretarial staff; there’s a newsletter that’s run by secretaries for secretaries; and every two months, we hold a conference call between all the offices around the world to share our progress, compare initiatives and discuss ideas. Perhaps some of them could be yours.
